Brian Rhodes - Director and Founder of Minerva Oil & Gas Advisors Ltd

Over 45 years’ experience in the petroleum industry with both major and independent oil companies, as a consultant and more latterly as the technical expert in a royalty & streaming company.  Trained as a Geologist, his experience has spread across the full spectrum of upstream oil and gas. He has experience of management at the highest levels, a global knowledge, and a strong background in corporate and asset analysis.

His experience is worldwide and he has a vast knowledge of most of the hydrocarbon regions of the world and an understanding of many of the technical aspects of oil and gas fields within those regions. He is skilled in assessing projects both from the technical and commercial aspects. Now working as an independent advisor in his own consulting firm utilising his somewhat unique overall industry knowledge with his ability to link the technical to the commercial, he provides high level services to the industry, principally as an advisor to boards and senior management, assisting in the execution of A&D projects, as well as offering expert services and reserves & resources advice. In recent years he has provided the technical expertise for the opportunity analysis and investments made by FlowStream Commodities, a major international royalty and streaming company.

He has advised on various corporate and asset valuations as well as public company takeovers, and expert witness work. He has also been involved with public offerings and led Gaffney, Cline & Associates’ public company Competent Person’s Reporting, which involved work in all listing jurisdictions. He assisted in the preparation of the technical requirements for listing on the Hong Kong and Singapore Stock Exchanges. He is an expert, and advised a number of companies, on reserves estimation, reporting and booking.

As well as FlowStream Commodities and Gaffney, Cline & Associates, Brian has previously worked for Marathon Oil as a Senior Geologist, Peko Petroleum (UK) Limited as Chief Executive and Cultus Petroleum (UK) Limited as Managing Director, as well as running his own consulting business between 1990 and 1996.

Brian has an Honours Degree in Geology from the University of Dundee. He is a Member of the Energy Institute, a Member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers, has been a Member of the Petroleum Exploration Society of Great Britain since the start of his career and has been a Member of the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers since its foundation.
